EGGWATCH GUIDE · UPDATED 12 SEPTEMBER 2026
Set up and troubleshoot the Windows watcher
Install the companion, get Roblox into a readable state, understand the backup queue, and fix the most common missing-detection problems.
Decide whether this PC needs to publish
You can view the shared EggWatch feed without installing the companion or creating an account. Install the Windows watcher when you want this PC to read Roblox and contribute results. The website does not host a Roblox game for you: a participating Windows PC still needs the game running and readable.
The companion reads a game window and sends structured egg, timer, and watcher-status updates. It does not play the game or inject game code. Use the download linked from EggWatch so the detector's supported names match the current website catalogue.
Install or update the companion
Keep all files from the download together. Running a script inside an unopened ZIP, or copying only eggwatch.py, can leave the launcher without the setup files it needs.
- If EggWatch is already running, press Ctrl + Backspace to close the old watcher and its launcher.
- Download the current Windows ZIP from the live tracker. Extract the whole archive to a normal folder on your PC.
- Open the extracted EggWatch-Windows folder and run SETUP.bat. Let setup finish so the desktop shortcut and browser connection point to this copy.
- Open EggWatch from the shortcut. If your browser asks to open EggWatch or allow local-device access, approve the connection you initiated.
- Click Open game or Reconnect when you want to launch Roblox. Opening the website alone starts only the installed watcher.
Give the detector a readable game window
Keep Roblox restored in a windowed or borderless view. It can sit behind another application, but minimising it can stop usable capture. Clear menus or overlays that cover the announcement area or the bottom-right countdown, and wait for a readable timer before judging whether synchronisation works.
The capture areas scale with the game window, so switching between window sizes does not require you to enter new pixel coordinates. However, a pet name somewhere else on the screen is intentionally ignored. The name needs a nearby Egg label in the announcement area; ordinary player chat should not become a public spawn.
Online, standby, and waiting for Roblox
Watcher online means the website can communicate with a running companion. Standby means another eligible watcher currently has priority, so your PC is waiting its turn to publish. That is normal: the public feed uses one publisher instead of mixing unrelated readings from several PCs.
Waiting for Roblox means the companion has not yet qualified as a readable game source. Restore the game and allow a fresh scan. If the main watcher returns, it takes priority again and backups return to standby. Reinstalling solely to change your queue position is unnecessary.
If the timer works but an egg is missing
Start with the supported-egg catalogue. A new egg requires a companion version containing that name. Next, check that the actual announcement was inside the upper-centre capture area and that Egg appeared with it. A label that disappeared before it could be read twice may not become a confirmation.
Normal scanning targets half-second checks. Around reset, EggWatch requests faster checks from ten seconds before the reset until the next countdown reaches 4:50. Those are capture targets, not a promise of a completed reading every 0.05 seconds: text recognition and hardware still take time. Increasing polling alone cannot recover an announcement the watcher never saw.
If the companion closes or never connects, check eggwatch.log in its extracted folder for the startup or capture error. When asking for help, share the error line, companion version, and what the status says. Remove private codes, webhook URLs, or other credentials before posting a log.
Stop it cleanly and reopen it later
Ctrl + Backspace closes both the watcher and its launcher so the launcher does not immediately restart it. This leaves Roblox and the browser open. Use the EggWatch shortcut when you want to resume tracking. While the watcher is running, that key combination is reserved for closing it.
If Roblox disconnects, use Reconnect or Open game when you are ready. The companion is configured to wait for a manual launch. Closing a public website tab is different from closing the Windows watcher; use the keyboard shortcut when your intention is to stop the background process.
